LOUIS THEROUX

This could be a better picture but i stole it from google!

This book by Louis Theroux is an adaption of a seriers that he makes for the BBC here in the UK. He revisits his subjects from the tv series to see where they are at. the book does give enough info about the people as at the time i had not seen the series, but since have.

He travels across the USA interview people from subcultures there. Unfortunatley his book does not accuratley show his skills that makes him so enjoyable to watch. His method of interviewing these people is rather unique. As a person he always appears somewhat awkward to me, almost a little naive but personally i cant help but feel he is putting on an act. However he manages to keep his subjects aloof of this. Is also could be the shock of the lives of the people he is interview that does this. In the book his subjects are somewhat interesting he interviews, such as a pornstay, motivatinal speaker, prostitute and a 'preen' racial hate folk band just to name a few!

JOE STRUMMER THE FUTURE IS UNWRITTEN

I have finally seen this documentary on Joe Strummer. One of the great things about being in England is being able to see great documentaries. It was a beautiful piece of work putting together the life of this great artist. I couldn't help but feel if i like a lot of people around him would have found him difficult to be around. A lot of people i respect particularly Don Letts make an appearance. I couldn't help but feel that the 'congenital heart' attack maybe a fabrication of a possible suicide. This is baseless but that was just the feeling i got from it and from some personal experience.

I could write more on this but i would only be ruining it for you.

I highly recommend this documentary.

TWICKENHAM

Saturday November 15 was the first time i went to the hallowed turf of Twickenham. Unfortunatley for me i was not there in the capacity to attend as a player nor a spectator. What made it a little harder to swallow was the fact that i was working in a bar. All the bars at Twickenham face the outer and you are unable to see the game.

The worst thing about this first Twickenham experience was that it was Australia Vs England. My bar manager was rather cool and let me have a break and watch the first 20 minutes on the TV adjacent to the bar (which we were told at the start of the shift we would not be able to do.) I have to tell you that some of the Englishman i didn't want to serve prior to the game given their utter arrogance towards Australian's generally. It was sweet however when the Wallabies came through with victory rather convincingly 28-14 it was rather sweet.

One of the security guards was nice enough to let me take a couple of shots (will be up later) of the ground when it was empty. I was also fortunate to be able to see the Wallabies board their bus and give them some applause for their efforts.

MAN TRIES TO PAY FOR BILL WITH SPIDER DRAWING

Check this out. I found the email correspondance rather humourous.

Sorry i would have posted it as a hyperlink. But for some reason it didnt (nor hasn't) worked for a while.

WELSH, SCOTTISH, IRISH, ENGLISH OR BRITISH?

Andy Murray. He is currently rated in the top 10 in the world tennis ranking's i believe. I find it quite hilarious that on television and in the media in Britain that when this guy is winning he is conveniently British. But is Scottish when he loses. This seems to happen quite a bit here. I am not aware if it is the other way around in other parts of Britain, on my trip to Scotland i did not watch enough television to comment (Why would you anyway?)

I guess that this justifies why Australian media claims ownership of the people of New Zealand. (You can have Russell Crowe back by the way)

WINDRUNNERS

I have wanted a pair so bad since i got to London at the end of August. But they would get pretty trashed. Pretty similar to Max light's but very subtle differences. They are about £54.99 which by Australian terms is cheap. Just gotta get some flow together to get a pair!

HIGHLAND COWS

These highland cow's look like they would do you some serious damage. I am assured however that they are quite placid. I am a big fan of Highland cow's. It's the hair colour i think. Goats are still my favourite animal however.

I still will not attempt Cow tipping with these creatures. For those unaware of the art of Cow tipping here is a resource for you to research.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cow_tipping

It's funny when you discover something like this. For example it's quite known now that the Hippopotamus is the deadliest creature in Africa. Take a look at the picture below, when they make eye contact with you like this be assured that you are in trouble.

They are sold to eat in Britain as 'Aberdeen Angus' I cannot say that i will be eating it anytime soon as i cant justify paying for the price of meat in London where i am currently residing

WRITERS TOUR OF CRANFEILD UK

I am aware of the spelling error it is rather deliberate.

Cranfeild is a town of about 5000 people about an hour and a bit drive from London. It actually has about 8000 people if you include the University im told.

Cranfeild has some writers. They dont appear to tag the street but they get up in the recreation park.

At the front we are greeted by Trev and Blitz, Blitz gets up a bit in the park.

Dream also gets up at the front here is one of his throwy's.

Pinez

Australia's Best Cricketer? One and a bit hour's drive from London? Ricky Ponting on Ashes tour?

'Likes' is a king round these parts. You can tell by the crown above the tag.

Check out the Laden tag on the bin. Made me laugh.

No Forigners. I wonder if someone is taking the piss, i wasn't quite sure whether to be offended or not. If not when i find a Forigner i may have to tell them NO!

I wonder if there is beef with 'Minimal Damage' and the other writers. Its capped a dream throwy underneath. I start to wonder whether 'Minimal Damage' is a piss take also? It could be also a great name for an 80's rock band, you know the type with big hair and make up. The type of band that would be a support act for a band called 'Final Warning' or something to that effect.

Postcode tags YIH!

'Blitz' again and 'RACEC'?

Someone in love?

Ed love's someone

Ed love's someone else, must get around this Ed ormust be a bit of a player or something.

LS

Wondering if they are related?

COZ krew

'Rude' throwy, COZ again and 'Bobiz'

Dead beat pikey's great name for a krew, or for that matter a 'real' punk band. Minimal damage again

Jew Unit appears to be a krew in Cranfeild they dont appear notorious in the park however.

CANT STOP WONT STOP

I just finshed reading this book. Was quite a good insight into American culture and politics. Interesting to read at the same time as Barack Obama becoming president elect. I wonder when there will be a black Prime Minister or even for that matter possibly a Governer General? I also wonder if an Indigenous Australian would want to be a representative of the Queen in their own land.

Anyway this book is dope and you should check it.

GOING TO SCOTLAND

I am going to Scotland on Tuesday. My mate Andy runs a bar in Edinburgh so i dare say i will go and have a beer with him. Taking the bus up there, it only cost me 15quid. Can't wait to check out the countryside on the way there.

The Mighty Cronulla Sutherland Sharks are playing the storm (no caps deliberate) tomorrow morning. I am catching up with an old school mate, and my mate Phil who is from around my way in Sydney is staying at the hostel with me too.

Should they win and get into the grand final i am going to cry, missing them being in the grand final would be absolutely devestating and winning.

Sorry Mum im getting a Tattoo if i cannot go to the game and they are premiers.

(31/10/08)

Yes its Halloween, and they take it seriously in London.

Anyway i went to Edingburgh with the intention of staying there and it looked like i was going to be able to score some work soonish. I heard back from an Agency that had me go for an interview some weeks previous. Unfortunatley i needed the money back and it was guaranteed so i went back to London. I only got to scratch the surface when i was there, i will go back one day.

Anyway here are some photo's

This is a monument in Edingburgh to celebrate the relationship between a man and his dog. The man passed away and for the rest of the dog's natural life he stayed put right at the man's gravesite. It was quite a number of years.

This is where i stayed in Edinburgh. This hostel was well clean and the people there were fantastic. I could not recommend this place enough, this is where my mate Andy lives.

The English are a fantastic bunch of people. They taxed people in Scotland for the amount of sunlight that went into their premises. Easy solution to that, brick up the windows.

Yes i ate Haggis, it was brilliant with that whiskey sauce.

FIRST WALL IN THE UK

Aks i painted at Milton Keynes skatepark. Good street park. Sorry about the picture but it is dark when we finished and not very well lit.

FREE RENT

I have been in London just over 2 weeks now. Still looking for a job, nothing suitable appears to be coming up just yet. By all accounts it is a difficult time for it, i know some professional people that i am staying with at the hostel who are much in the same boat. I may have to bite the bullet, pull my head in and do something much my junior, but then again am i here to travel! Im now finding not having a steady job and money coming in rather strange, despite my dislike for the rat race per se'. London is expensive, those things aside i am having a great time! The hostel im staying in at Kensington is great plenty of young and those young at heart to hang out with. I'm learning a lot about the travelling life and picking up a lot of tips on how to survive. Sure i still have a fair bit of coin in reserve but i worked WAY to hard to get that behind me and dont want to rest on those laurels.

Ricky who runs this hostel got me to paint some boards up for the hostel for some free rent. Im going to be doing another couple of boards and a canvas for him till i find some work.

TATE MODERN

Today i visited the Tate Modern. Awesome place, it is a old coverted power station and massive inside.

There was a Street Art exhibition which finished yesterday but i was still able to catch it. The exhibition involved having artists paint the front of the Tate. The artists involved included Blu, Faile, JR, Nunca, Os Gemos, Sixeart, Spok, El Tono and Nuria, Nano 4814, 3ttman.

Blu, Faile, JR, Nunca, Os Gemos, Sixeart were given the opportunity to put their work up on the front of the Tate. When i got there today JR's paste up was being guerneyed off. Faile also did a paste up but the rest of the artists actually painted. When you see the considerable size of these it will come at some cost to remove. They should have left it up as far as i am concearned but at the end of the day nothing is permanent in street art.

The exhibition involved all artists involved 'putting up' in the streets around the gallery. I was given a map and had to go looking for the works.

I paid £2 (about $4 Aus) to get a handheld multimedia device which had a touch screen and would give you a guided tour throught the gallery. I learnt a lot today from the experience. Im glad J2K got me back into art (only if it was fleeting at high school) something that i will never forget and love him dearly forever for.

NOTTING HILL FESTIVAL

Muskrat was right.

First thing i had to do when i got to London was go to the Notting Hill Festival.

Fortunatley i arrived on the bank long weekend when it started. I met a couple of Aussie lads from Melbourne Dave and Nick and convinced them to go out there. We got there just after 11. We ate a lot of Jerk chicken and drank enough Red Stripe to fill the water catchment areas of all of Australia's capital cities.

A ridiculous amount of Jamacian sound systems, playing many various styles of Jamacian and African influences. Revelers would follow their favourite sounds systems around if they were mobile. It was so ridiculously dope that my world travels could end now and i would be happy.

The picture below is an example of just ONE of the streets. There was people in a few hundred streets just like this. Estimated that about 2 million people decend upon Notting hill. My only disappointment in hindsight is that i wasnt able to take too many photo's of the parade (too many people)

MORE OLD STUFF

My Dad just showed me this old picture. My kindi teach by all accounts had to censor what i said and instead wrote "My Dad doing the shovelling because of Kaiser." Which roughly translated in 3-4 year old speak is "My Dad going nuts because he has had to get the shovel and clean up my dogs shit." By all accounts everyone involved had a pretty good laugh about it. As you can clearly see my Dad's mouth is wide open from yelling, probably after having stepped in Kaisers business. The brown lines are Dad's mo.

Kaiser was a Weimaraner, he had to be put down when i was 11 and he was about 15 or 16 from memory. He had bad athritis, he was a cross with a Labrador, he had the fur but looked like a Weimaraner. Best dog ever, i would have posted an actual picture but my Mum couldn't be stuffed finding one as she would have to pull a million things out (you know what its like pulling out old photo's you start reminising) but this one i found brought back plenty of good memories about my dog.

I also thought in keeping in theme i would not post an actual picture of my Dad. When i was a kid i would get to hang out with the older girls at primary school because they thought my Dad was famous. Believe it or not he was an actual splitting image of Ed Rooney from Ferris Buellers Day Off. Dad went to the states for work in the late 80's not long after the film was released, he went into a burger joint and by all accounts everyone stopped in their tracks believing it was him.
Whats funnier is that the actor that played Ed Rooney has been in hot water over Child Porn. He entered no contest and now that the kid who is an adult is being sued. Dad rekoned he was being set up because its very new black to claim someone is a rock spider.

WESTERN SPAGETTI

This is really fucking cool.

NEW PIECE

New piece i painted today. Im not overly happy with it but it is a new line up i came up with a couple of nights ago. Rushed it a bit too, would have liked to have to done more with the background. Its also messy.

Note to Self

Purchase mask to prevent fuming.
Stop trying to paint too big.
Make sure you have enough of the colours you plan to use..

DES IS A FUKA

I ended up back at my mate Matt's house after a night on the town for a beer and a few games of shithead (man i love that game). It appears that he is sick of his 34 year old house mate (who only moved out of home 6 months ago) This is the funniest piece of graffiti i have ever seen (it is quite clear that Matt is or never was a writer)

Shithead (I lost)

This was the paint he used. Im not familiar with it. It has a male valve, unfortunatley the label was gone. I put it next to the Longneck to show you how large it is, if you know what brand it is let me know. It is chrome by the way, dont know how good it is however.

ROLLER

Sorry J had to go over it, but i left Adele up for you and stole your throwy. If it makes you any happier i hate the whole end result.
